Yesterday, my girlfriend and I took a road trip to the North Shore of Oahu. I haven’t gone to North Shore in a while and with school being out, I thought it would be a good opportunity to go to the beach and get a tan. We decided to take the scenic route and drive along the coastline. We passed by Sandy’s beach, Makapuu, Waimanalo, and then ended up in Kailua, where we got lost. After we got our bearings, we found Kamehameha Highway which would eventually took us to North Shore. Along the way, we stopped at a lunch wagon in Kahuku and had their famous shrimps for lunch. After that, we kept driving until we reached Waimea Bay in North Shore, our final destination where we were supposed to meet our friends. Mind you, we spent about 2 and 1/2 hours driving just to get Waimea. But the funny thing is, when we got to Waimea the weather was terrible. It was pouring rain and there was thunder and lightning. So we basically drove all the way up to North Shore to see thunder and lightning… haha so much for my tan. After we met up with our friends, we decided to ditch the beach and go to Haleiwa to have shave ice. After shave ice we drove back and got home at about 5. All in all, it was an okay day. I just can’t believe I drove for 6 hours to get shave ice.
今日は準夜勤。何だかバタバタしてて年またぎは全く実感なしでした。さて、2008年。一年間、どうでしたか。新しいこと始めて、仕事以外の熱中する事ができたのが大きいですね。新しい人間関係も広がったし。
一方で、任された仕事もうちょっとしっかりやらなきゃなとしこりが残ってますね。新人教育とか、委員会とか。。。なんか日記見返してみたら、自分の喜怒哀楽が激しい一年でしたね。もう少し落ち着きたいんですがね…いい歳になってきたし。
一年間ってあっという間ですね。もう終わっちゃったんだから。と思う一方、振り返ってみれば結構いろんな事があったりするわけで。一年間で人の状況っていろいろ変わるもんだね。でも総合的に落ち着いたいい一年でした。ちょっとぬるかったけど。来年も自分らしく生きたいですね。

On Friday Evening there was a state wide blackout this caused a so much turmoil. I was at the restaurant wondering what we would do. I remember thinking that we use gas grills and that the food might still be coming out. What I didn’t know was that the vents for the grills run on electricity so no food was being cooked. People stayed in the restaurant for some time thinking that the power would come on at any moment. I really had no idea as to what to tell my guests. Some of my guests had children and I told them that maybe they should wait another 5 minutes and if nothing comes out they should leave. What made the scenario even more difficult was that we had to ask people to pay for their checks and please leave. What was even more difficult was that some guests just had appetizers and salads, they were very eager to have steaks next. To my surprise everyone took it very well. We allowed them to reschedule their reservations and welcomed them back. It was a long and crazy night that I will not soon forget. After all was done I had to scramble for food. I had nothing I could eat at home so I drove around looking for something to eat. I found a lunch wagon that was serving food and making a killing. It was in pearl city in the longs parking lot but security called for a tow truck. Security said that they didn’t have a permit to be there and they would tow soon. Where is the humanity?! I was saying if they try to tow this truck it may start a riot. The line was very long and I think everyone just wanted to eat something. I think that security knew that towing them would have some major negative effect so they decided against it. After all this craziness I finally got a hot meal and just went to a sleep. WHAT A NIGHT!
西宮に最近できた「阪急西宮ガーデンズ」。最寄り駅の名前も「ガーデンズ前」って変わっちゃうくらいの規模。いつもサークルの帰りにピカピカ光ってるその建物を眺めて「どんなトコなんやろね〜。」って話してた。そこにやっとこさ偵察に行ってきました（笑）
まず思うことは…、「広っ！」広いです。縦にも横にも伸びてるし、阪急もイズミヤも入ってるけど、そこに行き着く暇もなく夕方になっちゃいました。すごいなぁ〜。「行きたいお店をしぼって行かないと、とてもじゃないけど回れないわよ。」とサークルのお姉さまが言ってたけど、まさにその通りやった。
あとね、思ったことは…、「キレイ！」当たり前だけど、めちゃきれいだね〜。オサレだね〜。おいしいパスタ屋さんも入ってるし。まだまだまだ…回りつくせないガーデンズ。車で25分、これから何回も来ちゃいそう。
年賀状やっと出せました。おつかれぃ。
北海道や鹿児島まで…
元旦に着くかなと毎年考えている自分がいます（笑）
成長しないね。
患者さんの奥さんが
「あなたがお正月病院にいるならお料理持ってきましょか？
お正月の料理余っちゃうし。」と言ってくださいまして…。
めっちゃ嬉しい。その心が。
