April and I did the manta-ray dive off Kona this week. There were 7 giant rays feeding off plankton attracted by our lights. weighing in around 2000 lb. a pice the rays were like big gracefull puppy dogs. bumping into each-other and sometimes us and gliding and looping all around for an hour. It was by far the best dive I have ever done!

The shark cages have ben in operation on the north shore for a while. Yesterday April, Dave, Dallas and I went to check it out. Each group of people get about 20 minutes in the cage. Most of the sharks are Galapagos and sand bar sharks. Ranging from 3 - 12 feet. And occasionally they see some tigers. All together it was worth the $85. and was a very humbling experience. I got some great pix. The sharks are attracted to the surface because they associate the sound of the
boat engine with food. Bringing dozens of sharks up from 300 - 500 feet. Once at the surface they feed them to keep them there. Sometimes throwing the chum right in the cage.
The cages can only be deployed on calm wind days, because the cage bangs up against the boat making it hard to get in and out. So if your planing on going, schedule your trip on a calm sea day. They end up canceling 30-40% of there trips due to wether.
